Description
Citric Acid is a mild organic acid used to adjust the acidity in dyeing.
It changes the pH level of the dye bath and is a scent-free alternative to white vinegar when using acid dyes for immersion dyeing. For a pH of 4.0, add 5g to 1 liter of dye bath water, or for larger quantities, use 25g (approximately 1 oz) in 5 liters (about 1 gallon).
If you’re painting or printing with acid dyes or using Procion MX dyes as acid dyes and plan to set the dyes through steaming or microwaving, first pre-soak the fabric in a solution of Citric Acid mixed as described above. Let it dry before starting your painting or printing process.
